The MSC80 is the second-largest MistBeam: a 30 kW fan moving 81,671 m³/h through a ring of fifty-five nozzles, throwing 70 to 80 m in windless conditions. It exists for one situation — the working area is large, and there is nowhere safe or sensible to stand a machine inside it.
That is the normal condition on an open-cast bench, at a dump point, across a coal stockyard or at a ship loader. Shovels, dozers and haul trucks are moving through the dust; the suppression has to come from the edge. Throw is what buys you that, and it is the whole reason to step up from a 50 m machine to this one.
Suppressing coal dust in particular does a second job. Wetting an open stockpile takes the risk of a stockpile fire down as well as the emissions, and on more than one site that is the argument that gets the budget signed rather than the visible-dust condition on the permit.
Everything else is the range's: a slew bearing of the type used in excavators, 360° powered rotation with a programmable sweep between two limits, a stainless pump, quick-change nozzles, a control panel outside the rotating part and a water cut-off valve. A lifting bracket is fitted, because a machine this size is craned into position more often than it is towed.

How it is built
What a 30 kW machine still shares with the small ones
The fan and the nozzle count change across the range. The rotating joint, the controls and the water train do not.
A slew bearing, not a bearing block
The cannon turns on the same kind of slew bearing an excavator turns its house on. That matters most on the machines that travel: a haul road will destroy a plain ball-bearing rotating joint, and the slew ring is the reason a unit can be driven around a site and still point where it is told.
Set the sweep and leave it
Rotation is 360° under power, and the swing is programmable: set a left limit and a right limit and the machine sweeps between them until someone stops it. Manual or automatic, from the panel or the remote.
The panel is outside the rotating part
It can be reached while the machine is running, which sounds obvious until you meet one where it cannot. There is a remote for the rest, and an emergency stop that kills the whole machine rather than just the fan.
A stainless steel pump
The pump raises the water to the pressure the nozzles need to break it into droplets small enough to catch dust. Stainless because the water on a dust-suppression job is rarely clean water, and because the whole machine lives outdoors.
Quick-change stainless nozzles
Fine nozzles are the one part of a fog cannon that is genuinely consumable, and they are the part that suffers when someone skips the filter. They come out and go back in by hand.
A water cut-off valve
Fitted on every model. It is what lets a unit run unattended without emptying a tank onto the ground when the fan stops.

How a machine this size arrives
A 30 kW fan and a 5.5 kW pump is a serious electrical load and a serious weight, so the honest list here is shorter than it is lower down the range. Check the tow route and the standing, not just the distance to the dust.
Standalone
Bolted down and fed from the site's own water and power — on the ground, on a fabricated stand, or up on a gantry, bund or plant roof so the fog falls into the dust rather than under it.
Trolley with water tank
The cannon and an onboard tank on a towable four-wheel chassis, drawing power from a site supply. Tow it to the work, park it, plug it in.
Trolley with water tank and diesel generator
The same trolley with a generator alongside the tank, so the unit owes the site nothing — no cable, no hydrant. The configuration most often taken on hire.

Suppression from the edge of the work
Sited clear of the loading face and throwing across it, so shovels and haul trucks keep working inside the treated volume. This is what the reach is for: the machine is out of the way and the fog is not.

Bulk terminals, where the dust source moves along the quay through the day and the machine cannot.
Rail sidings and tipplers
Ore-handling sidings and wagon tipplers, where one machine standing back can cover several discharge points on a sweep.
Large crushing circuits
Fixed plant where the crusher, the conveyors and the product piles are spread across more ground than a mid-range machine reaches.

MSC80, answered plainly
How far does the MSC80 actually throw?
70 to 80 m in windless conditions. Throw is the specification the weather can halve, so we publish a band rather than a single figure, and we size against the distance you need on a normal day rather than a still one.
What area does one cover?
Sited at the edge and swept through half a circle, about 7,700 m² at the bottom of its throw band. The sizing tool does the arithmetic properly and tells you how many units an area needs.
What supply does it need?
A 30 kW fan and a 5.5 kW pump. That is the step that usually decides whether a site runs it off the grid or off a dedicated generator, and generator sizing is issued with the quotation against the configuration you choose.
Does it help with stockpile fires?
Wetting an open coal stockpile suppresses dust and reduces the conditions that let a stockpile heat and catch. We would not sell it to you as fire protection — it is not a fire system — but it is a real second benefit and it is often the one that gets a purchase approved.
Can it go on a truck?
The smaller models are the ones normally mounted on a tanker. A 30 kW fan on a chassis is possible but the deck, the power and the weight all have to be checked before we quote it, so tell us if that is what you have in mind rather than assuming it.
Is there anything bigger?
The MSC100: 113,040 m³/h through 75 nozzles at 90 to 100 m. It is on the range table, and the sizing tool will point you at it if the area you give it needs one.
