Why the MSC50 is the default answer

The MSC50 pushes 42,984 m³/h through thirty nozzles and throws 40 to 50 m in windless conditions. It is the model we specify most often, and the reason is not that it is the best machine in the range — it is that its reach lands on the size of area most dust problems actually are, and its 7.5 kW fan and 5.5 kW pump run off a supply most sites already have.

Step up from here and you are into 15, 18.5, 30 and 45 kW fans. Those buy real distance, but they also change the conversation about the electrical supply, the generator and how the machine gets onto site. The MSC50 is the last model in the range where none of that is usually an obstacle.

Like the rest of the range it turns on a slew bearing of the type used in excavators, rotates a full 360° under power, and sweeps between two limits you set. The pump is stainless steel, the nozzles are quick-change, and the control panel sits outside the rotating part so it can be reached while the machine is running.

How it is built

The engineering that does not change across the range

None of this is specific to the MSC50 — it is what every MistBeam gets, and it is most of what separates one of these from a fan with a sprinkler in front of it.

A slew bearing, not a bearing block

The cannon turns on the same kind of slew bearing an excavator turns its house on. That matters most on the machines that travel: a haul road will destroy a plain ball-bearing rotating joint, and the slew ring is the reason a unit can be driven around a site and still point where it is told.

Set the sweep and leave it

Rotation is 360° under power, and the swing is programmable: set a left limit and a right limit and the machine sweeps between them until someone stops it. Manual or automatic, from the panel or the remote.

The panel is outside the rotating part

It can be reached while the machine is running, which sounds obvious until you meet one where it cannot. There is a remote for the rest, and an emergency stop that kills the whole machine rather than just the fan.

A stainless steel pump

The pump raises the water to the pressure the nozzles need to break it into droplets small enough to catch dust. Stainless because the water on a dust-suppression job is rarely clean water, and because the whole machine lives outdoors.

Quick-change stainless nozzles

Fine nozzles are the one part of a fog cannon that is genuinely consumable, and they are the part that suffers when someone skips the filter. They come out and go back in by hand.

A water cut-off valve

Fitted on every model. It is what lets a unit run unattended without emptying a tank onto the ground when the fan stops.

Configurations

Four ways it arrives on site

At 7.5 kW of fan and 5.5 kW of pump the MSC50 is comfortable in all four configurations. What decides it is not the machine, it is whether the dust source moves and what you can get to the spot.

Standalone

Bolted down and fed from the site's own water and power — on the ground, on a fabricated stand, or up on a gantry, bund or plant roof so the fog falls into the dust rather than under it.

Trolley with water tank

The cannon and an onboard tank on a towable four-wheel chassis, drawing power from a site supply. Tow it to the work, park it, plug it in.

Trolley with water tank and diesel generator

The same trolley with a generator alongside the tank, so the unit owes the site nothing — no cable, no hydrant. The configuration most often taken on hire.

Truck-mounted

On a water tanker, so it refills itself and follows the work. The same tank and pump will also drive a road washer for haul roads and a water cannon for washing down plant — three jobs off one chassis.

Everything it needs, on four wheels

Water tank, booster pump, generator and cannon on one towable chassis. Nothing to trench, nothing to connect, and nothing left behind when the face moves on — which is why this is the configuration that goes out on hire and the one that ends up parked wherever the week's work is.

  • Towed behind a pickup or a light truck; sited and running inside an hour
  • Onboard tank, so it does not have to stand within hose reach of a hydrant
  • Generator alongside, so it draws nothing from the site supply
  • Lifting bracket fitted, for craning onto a bench or a barge

Crusher mouth, discharge conveyor, screen decks and the product pile — usually from one position on a stand, aimed across the discharge.

Aggregate and stone yards

Stockpiles, loading shovels and the traffic between them, from a machine parked at the edge rather than in the way.

Working benches

Tip faces, dump points and loader faces on a bench where the work moves through the week and the machine moves with it.

Demolition frontages

Increasingly the condition on the consent rather than a courtesy. 50 m reaches across a frontage from outside the exclusion zone.

Cement and bulk handling

Raw-material yards, tipping halls and loading bays, where the dust is fine and light and travels a long way if nothing catches it.

Concrete and arisings crushing

Mobile crushers on a construction site, where the plant moves every few weeks and a trolley unit follows it.

How far does the MSC50 actually throw?

40 to 50 m in windless conditions. Throw is the one figure on a fog cannon the weather can halve, so we publish a band rather than a single number and size against the distance you need on a normal day.

Why is this the model you specify most?

Because its reach matches the size most dust problems are, and because 7.5 kW of fan and 5.5 kW of pump is a load most sites can already feed. The models above it buy distance at the cost of a conversation about the supply, the generator and getting the machine on site.

What area does one cover?

Sited at the edge of an area and swept through half a circle, about 2,500 m² at the bottom of its throw band — the cautious end, because the top of the band is the windless figure. The sizing tool does this properly, including how many units an area needs.

Will it work on a crusher?

On the crusher mouth, the discharge and the product stockpile, yes — a standalone unit on a stand aimed across the discharge is a common installation. Inside a chute or an enclosed transfer house, no: dust generated in a confined space is better dealt with at the source.

How much water does it use, and can it be recycled water?

Consumption follows how hard you run it; the figure for your configuration comes with the quotation. Settled or recycled site water is usable and often used — have it tested and filter ahead of the pump, because fine nozzles are far more sensitive to solids than to anything else about the water.

What does it cost?

We do not publish a price, because the spread across the range and across configurations is wide enough that a headline figure would mislead nearly everyone who read it. Send us the site, the dust source and the distance and you will get a configuration and a number rather than a brochure.
