The MSC20 is the compact end of the MistBeam range: 11,700 m³/h through fifteen nozzles, throwing 20 to 25 m in windless conditions. That is the right amount of machine for a loading point, a tipping bay, a transfer area or a small yard — places where a 70 m cannon would be throwing most of its fog over the boundary.

What makes it the one people put on vehicles is the rotating joint. It turns on a slew bearing of the type used in excavators, which is a far more rigid and far more forgiving joint than the ball-bearing arrangement a machine this size would normally get. Mining and construction roads are uneven; a plain rotating joint does not last on them, and this is the difference between a unit that can be driven to the work and one that has to be craned into place and left.

It rotates a full 360° under power and tilts from −5° to +45°, so it can be aimed down into a tipping point from an elevated platform or up across a stockpile from ground level. The swing is programmable between two limits, and it runs from the panel or the remote.

How it is built

Built to be moved and still point straight

The MSC20 shares the range's controls and water train; what it adds is a rotating joint that tolerates being driven around.

A slew bearing, not a bearing block

The cannon turns on the same kind of slew bearing an excavator turns its house on. That matters most on the machines that travel: a haul road will destroy a plain ball-bearing rotating joint, and the slew ring is the reason a unit can be driven around a site and still point where it is told.

Set the sweep and leave it

Rotation is 360° under power, and the swing is programmable: set a left limit and a right limit and the machine sweeps between them until someone stops it. Manual or automatic, from the panel or the remote.

The panel is outside the rotating part

It can be reached while the machine is running, which sounds obvious until you meet one where it cannot. There is a remote for the rest, and an emergency stop that kills the whole machine rather than just the fan.

A stainless steel pump

The pump raises the water to the pressure the nozzles need to break it into droplets small enough to catch dust. Stainless because the water on a dust-suppression job is rarely clean water, and because the whole machine lives outdoors.

Quick-change stainless nozzles

Fine nozzles are the one part of a fog cannon that is genuinely consumable, and they are the part that suffers when someone skips the filter. They come out and go back in by hand.

A water cut-off valve

Fitted on every model. It is what lets a unit run unattended without emptying a tank onto the ground when the fan stops.

Configurations

Four ways to carry it — and it suits all four

The MSC20 is the most mountable machine in the range, which is the main reason to choose it over something with more reach: at 2.2 kW of fan and 1.5 kW of pump it will run off supplies and generators the bigger models will not.

Truck-mounted

On a water tanker, so it refills itself and follows the work. The same tank and pump will also drive a road washer for haul roads and a water cannon for washing down plant — three jobs off one chassis.

Trolley with water tank

The cannon and an onboard tank on a towable four-wheel chassis, drawing power from a site supply. Tow it to the work, park it, plug it in.

Trolley with water tank and diesel generator

The same trolley with a generator alongside the tank, so the unit owes the site nothing — no cable, no hydrant. The configuration most often taken on hire.

Standalone

Bolted down and fed from the site's own water and power — on the ground, on a fabricated stand, or up on a gantry, bund or plant roof so the fog falls into the dust rather than under it.

On a tanker

One chassis, three jobs

Put it on a water tanker and the cannon refills itself and goes wherever the truck goes. Because the truck carries a pump and a full-pressure water system anyway, the same tank will also drive a road washer for haul roads and a water cannon for washing down plant and spillage.

Enclosed or semi-enclosed ground where a long-throw machine would put most of its fog somewhere you do not own.

Haul roads, on a truck

Road dust travels with the vehicles, so the suppression has to as well. This is the configuration that does it.

Elevated discharge

On a platform or gantry, tilted down into the plume. Fog falls; getting above the source beats reaching across at it.

Wagon and truck tipplers

A fixed, violent, repeatable dust event in a known place — ideal for a small machine aimed properly and left on a programmed sweep.

Hire and short projects

Small enough to move between jobs, and the configuration with its own tank and generator can be dropped anywhere a truck reaches.

How far does the MSC20 actually throw?

20 to 25 m in windless conditions. That last part is not a formality — throw is the one figure on a fog cannon that the weather can halve, so we publish a band and size against the distance you need on a normal day rather than a still one.

Can it really go on a truck?

Yes, and it is the model most often mounted on one. The rotating joint is a slew bearing of the kind used in excavators, which is what survives haul-road vibration; a plain ball-bearing joint is what fails. Tank size follows the chassis you supply.

What does it tilt to?

−5° to +45°. That range is what lets one machine aim down into a tipping point from a platform and up across a stockpile from ground level.

Does it need someone standing by it?

No. Set a left and a right limit and it sweeps between them until stopped, from the panel or the remote, in manual or automatic mode. The water cut-off valve is what stops an unattended machine running a tank dry, and there is an emergency stop that kills the whole unit.

How does it compare with the bigger models?

It is the same machine philosophy at a smaller size: 11,700 m³/h against the MSC50's 42,984 and the MSC80's 81,671. Airflow, not pressure, is what buys distance. If you need more than 25 m, start from the range table and sizing tool.

Can we hire one?
