Mining mud is a structural problem and a sludge problem.

The engineering

Gross weight is the easy part

An 80-tonne class rack is not a medium-duty rack with thicker plate. The design has to account for how that mass actually arrives on the deck — concentrated, repeatedly, and moving.

  • Individual axle load and individual wheel load, not just gross vehicle weight
  • Tyre contact area — the same axle load through a different tyre is a different pressure
  • Track loading for tracked equipment, which concentrates load quite differently
  • Concentrated point loads, including outriggers and jacking points
  • Dynamic loading as a machine drives on and off the rack
  • Repeated loading and fatigue over the life of the installation

The 80-tonne classification is a product design target. Final published axle, wheel and point-load capacities are based on structural calculation and validation before they are stated as guaranteed specifications — so send us the machine list and we will confirm what your fleet needs.

One thing we will not do is imply that every heavy-duty configuration takes every mining haul truck. The largest haul trucks are a different conversation, and it starts with vehicle dimensions and individual wheel and axle loads.

Solids

This is where a scraper conveyor earns its keep

Heavy equipment brings soil, clay, mining fines and rock onto the pad in quantity. Collected water off a mine vehicle is not car-wash effluent, and treating it as if it were is how treatment plants get blocked.

  • A scraper conveyor removes accumulated heavy solids and sludge from the collection area mechanically
  • A sludge-capable pump transfers dirty water and slurry toward the treatment equipment
  • Solids separation ahead of the plant, so filtration is doing filtration rather than desilting
  • The exact arrangement follows the anticipated solids loading — it is specified, not assumed

The other return

A clean machine is a machine you can actually inspect

Washing heavy equipment is not housekeeping. On a mine or a large earthworks site it is part of maintenance and part of risk control.

  • Accumulated debris and oily build-up around hot surfaces is a recognised equipment fire risk
  • You cannot see a weeping hydraulic line, a chafing hose or a cracked weld through a coat of clay
  • Rock and packed material in the undercarriage accelerates wear on components that are expensive to replace
  • Machines washed before they go into the workshop cut the time a fitter spends cleaning instead of fixing
  • Soil moved between sites on an undercarriage is exactly what washdown and biosecurity controls exist to prevent
